Dropping the atomic bombs was justifiable because the Japanese surrendered, saving over 500,000 American soldiers and perhaps as many as one million Japanese who would have died if we had invaded Japan. Dwight Eisenhower believed it was unnecessary to drop the atomic bomb for two reasons, he thought the Japanese were ready to surrender before the bombs were dropped. He also did not want the U.S to be the first country to ever drop that awful bomb. However, President Truman, Winston Churchill, Karl Compton, and Satoshi Kanozawa agreed with dropping the atomic bomb on Japan. Compton, a physicist, said that dropping the atomic bombs was the next major move because the Japanese wouldn't surrender. If this action was not taken then the Japanese would have kept fighting, leading to bloodshed and more costly struggles. President Truman finally warned the Japanese to leave industrial cities immediatley, and save themselves from destruction.
